Lips are an important thing, If your lips are not healthy and happy your face will not be happy. Your smile is your best accessory. Therefore it requires attention. I really hate dry uncomfortable lips, it is one more thing to worry about. You should always have some sort of lip repair at arms reach at all times. After you brush you teeth at night but on a lip treatment and you face will thank you. Colder temperature really take a toll on your skin and your lips are vulnerable to cold. Youthful lips are full and taken care of. We are working on developing a lip treatment that is pretty enough to wear out or to bed. Wishing you the happiest lips in the new year!
Why We Know Lip Issues
The whole reason we created this line is because of the Lip Issues we encountered from working. Our lips go to work ant the have to take abuse and look great anyway. Traveling for work and having a different make up artist all the time and constantly using different products or ones that may not agree with our skin takes its toll. We made this line to cure our Lip Issues. If it helps our lips that are lips that take abuse, it can help anything you got.
A Logo For Lip Issues
As always in business, you can try one person at something, and find out they are not EXACTLY what you had hoped for. Certain jobs require certain skills, and sometimes it take several tries at it to figure out who is best fit for the job. We started working on a logo for Lip Issues, then came to the conclusion that our company needed someone else to do this particular job for us. After searching high and low, I think we have finally found our girl! While at the Sex Appeal Magazine Red Carpet Mansion Party in Atlanta, GA this past weekend, I ran into a woman who is passionate about her job! She takes her business seriously and is really on top of things! I am thinking that she is going to be what it takes to get this logo 100%! Shout out to Ashley Woods for reaching out to me, and helping Lip Issues to keep it moving!

The Image of Lip Issues
What makes you buy a certain lip gloss, or lip balm? There is obviously something that attracts you to that particular product right? As I continue my research and product comparison, the more I realize that there are many companies out there who are selling an unattractive image. If you are trying to convince women across the globe, that they NEED your product, then why wouldn’t you want your product to have what I like to call “product sex appeal”. It’s no secret that sex sells! It doesn’t have to be a half naked woman looking sexy, for that to apply! I continually compare products and the sex appeal that they give off. If a woman walks into a store or boutique, sees a cosmetic display and stops… something made her stop to look. Now if she stands there and studies the product, something about that product is stimulating to her! You don’t want to be the product that gets looked over or set back down. Each time I see a woman put down a lip product I ask myself why….. Its because she saw another product that was more appealing to her. That other lip product had “product sex appeal!!
As owners of Lip Issues we are taking this theory to the next level! This is where we will take our experience as professional models, and apply it to making our product appealing to all types, from models, to mothers, to business women. Any glamorous woman on the go! We are striving to make this a product that will catch every woman’s eye, and will incise her to continue to use the product for years to come! It’s not just about colors and functionality. Let the branding begin!!!
Financial Projections
I have been working on the financial projections recently. We only have so much start up capitol so it has to be stretched. The first run of capitol will be split up into 5 categories. Marketing, Web Development, Images, Product and Shipping. I always inflate a few categorizes budgets for safety. If we can stay under budget somewhere it will just be moved into the product budget. We are trying to get our profit margins between 15%- 20%. Lip Issues is expected to become profitable after the 3rd order of product.
Web Development- our site will be an online store. Also, all of the social media that the product will be featured on.
Marketing- there will be several launch parties in several cities at different stores that carry the product. In addition to parties at different events we will be sponsoring. The commercials, infomercials and hopefully other outlets to get Lip Issues seen and herd in the beauty industry. Trade shows and lots of give aways at gifting suites.
Images- We will be having several photo and video shoots. Logo’s and web and packaging images to make and decide on for all of the seasons. Plus, the graphics for fliers and banners for events.
Ideas For Commercials
As I just had a mind orgasm with ideas for commercials and places that Lip Issues needs to go, do and see. There are not many products out there that are %100 transparent on their marketing and business strategies. We at Lip Issues think that we are untouchable because essentially we F*ing rock so that we’re not so worried about people ripping off our awesome ideas. Nobody can do it like we do it right.
Instead of making a commercial that looks like a commercial we will show us being our wonderful selves actually using or product. We created this product because we had a serious need to solve our own “lip issues”. There are a zillion places that you’ll run into a lip issues, therefore it should always be happy.
a few things you may see in the video blog or upcoming commercials:
Lip gloss on boys, one of my biggest pet peeves is when MUA’s put lip color on boys on tv or film. It irritates me to no end. To prove my point I’m going to go visit my actor friends at work and see if they will participate in a Lip Issues take over.
Working, we both work in front of the camera full time. All of our photo shoots, filming, Voice over work will be shot and so will our time in the hair and make up trailers. You can see just what it takes.
Locations, we came up with the phrase Lip Issues while traveling for work. Which we do more and more over the years. Everywhere from Tokyo to Milan. At the film festivals, Sundance and Cannes. Or working on location in Tokyo, Milan or Paris. At Fashion Week in LA or meetings in NYC. We are constantly on the go in style.
We are really going to try and show actual moments in our life not staged. We’re not fake and neither is Lip Issues.
Executive Summary
This is our Executive Summary thus far, our financial projections
will come in as soon as a manufacturer is contracted.
Lip Issues is a company that has created a brand concept consisting of both lip color and lip repairing products utilizing multiple channels of distribution. We are seeking to build a brand and company that stays privately owned and operated. The plan that follows explains our market, our value proposition and our market segmentation strategy. The detailed financial plans provide a clear view of our sales and profit forecasts. These plans show how Lip Issues will reach profitability in our third round of production.
Mission
To establish Lip Issues as an internationally recognized brand that represents quality in lip care, and lip color products. We will accomplish this using high quality domestic manufacturing and research, a highly creative marketing program, and a comprehensive distribution network using both brick and mortar retail outlets, internet presence, and a copious TV and media outlets.
By utilizing this multi-channel approach we will be able to reach the expansive market for quality beauty products rapidly and efficiently. It will allow us to develop Lip Issues as the brand for lip care products within our target market.
The Company
Lip Issues is a division of Stylosity LLC, a California based company . Lip Issues the company is 100% owned by Rachel Ann Mullins and Chantel Marie Waske, the founders.
Together, Rachel Mullins and Chantel Waske have have 15 years worth of combined experience in the beauty industry. Both of them have acquired varied experiences in all aspects of the beauty and product marketing industry.
The company is mainly operated from Los Angeles. Office and warehouse space should be acquired as the company grows for planned staff size growth within the first few years.
From Year 1 through Year 5 we will grow in staff count. This increase in staffing will be at the supply and discretion of Stylosity LLC. Stylosity LLC, the parent company will be providing resources and support to Lip Issues
Products
Lip care and color products will be developed and produced at our contract facilities in California. Production of products will be managed through our contract manufacturer of cosmetic related company. Production of accessories will be managed through a contract with the same manufacturing company. Accessories may include brushes, make up bags and promotional items.
Lip Issues will have two product lines, lip care (repairing) and lip color (gloss). Within the lip care line we will offer different formulas for lip healing and conditioning. Within the lip color line we will offer products such as gloss tube, sticks and pots, plus brush on. In different color palettes in addition to single color options.
Our pricing strategy is to position our products with a shelf price that is just barely below prices of high-quality products and brands. We have accomplished this by making large volume manufacturing orders and adjusting our packaging size. Plus, handling our logistics in the most effective way possible.
We believe our ability to create future product opportunities and growth will only be limited by our imagination and our ability to attract talented people who understand the concept of branding.
The Market
Lip Issues will occupy a unique market position. No other brand offers a specialty lip gloss line and possible accessories that is a lifestyle brand but under cuts the competitors . Quality and price vary widely within each competitor. Lip Issues will be positioned as a quality brand. The U.S. cosmetics market has seen large annual growth rates over the past decade. Last year alone, the market grew by over $1 billion. Clear divisions between traditional categories are becoming blurred and new lines, such as aromatherapy are also emerging, creating new openings for profit.
In the skin care and cosmetics category the competition can be divided into three groups: Commercial–i.e. MAC, Origins, Philosophy, Body Co. Bath and Body Works and Shesheido; Clinical–i.e. Kiehl’s, Clinique, Clarins and Burts Bee’s; Spa–private label brands associated with spas in addition to perscription strength formulas.
The Customer
Due to Lip Issues being a combined retail (direct to end user) and wholesale (to the end user through a reseller) strategy our target customer must be broken into two distinct groups, the end user and the reseller.
Our targeted end user is between the ages of 15 and 65. They are females with any level of education and a mid level house hold income. This consumer has a desire for a trendy lifestyle. They are concerned about social and entertainment news. Glamor and functionality are important to them. They are people who have an interest in media, magazines, TV, films, radio; students, young working class, professionals or home makers. The effects of aging and the maintenance of a youthful appearance are a part of their life.
Our target customers (vs. end user) for wholesale distribution will be resellers who recognize the needs of this consumer and who she identifies with. We have used the term resellers because they will not be limited to retailers. We will reach the consumer through four distinct reseller channels. Spas and Health Clubs, Lifestyle Retailers, Cosmetic Specialty Retailers, and Boutique Department Stores.
There are a number of new demand trends that have impacted the market and created greater opportunities. New colors and color pallette conficurations, limited edition packaging and the need to see a public use and accecptance of the brand. Use of Lip Issues in the media and other product placement opperunites will propel Lip Issues to a household name.
Financial
In order to launch its unique product line Lip Issues requires an initial outlay. Sales at Lip Issues online retail are planned to grow rapidly from Year 1 through Year 5. During this time frame our wholesale revenues are planned to grow enormously via physical distribution at boutiques and other brick and mortar retail locations. Lip Issues will become profitable in our second round of manufacturing. Initial growth will be financed by a combination of cash capitol and revenue from other Styosity LLC companies/ products. All first round revenue will be reinvested into Lip Issues to create bigger and better advertising and packaging.
